Call for Participation: Bhopal’s first ever do_action

We are excited to announce that the WordPress Bhopal Community is hosting Bhopal’s first-ever do_action! This unique event brings together our talented community of WordPress enthusiasts, developers, designers, and content creators to create professional, high-quality websites for local registered nonprofit organizations.

What is do_action?

do_action is a global initiative led by local WordPress communities, where volunteers come together to build websites for nonprofit organizations. It’s our way of giving back and empowering nonprofits by enhancing their online presence, enabling them to reach a broader audience and amplify their impact.

For nonprofits, having a professional online presence can make all the difference. However, we understand that building a top-notch website can be a costly endeavour—funds that could be better spent on your cause. This is where we come in! At our do_action event, we offer you a high-quality, custom-built WordPress website, designed and developed by passionate volunteers from the WordPress Bhopal Community, all at no cost to you.

What We Offer:

  • A Customized WordPress Website: Tailored to your organization’s needs, with all the necessary features to help you achieve your goals.
  • WordPress Training: We won’t just build your website and leave you hanging. We offer comprehensive training for your representatives to manage and update the website on your own.
  • Ongoing Support: Our community will provide you with the necessary resources and guidance to ensure your website continues to thrive.

How to Apply:

Getting involved is simple! Just fill out the application form and ensure that your organization is represented at the event. Your representative should come prepared with the necessary content, and we’ll handle the rest. By the end of the event, we will try that you have a fully functional website ready to go live!

Are you looking to contribute your skills to the noble endeavours of local nonprofit organizations? Or perhaps you’re eager to network with proficient professionals in our WordPress community? If so, we invite you to join us as a volunteer at the do_action.

Each website will be built by a team of 5 to 7 volunteers, with roles tailored to your expertise:

  • Project Manager: The Project Manager oversees the entire website creation process. This role involves assigning tasks to team members, liaising between the organization and the team, and ensuring that the project stays on track. You’ll also connect with the nonprofit before the event to understand their requirements and make preliminary plans.
  • Developers: As a Developer, you’ll be responsible for building the actual website. This includes implementing the chosen theme, setting up necessary plugins, and possibly writing custom code to meet the nonprofit’s specific needs.
  • Designer: The Designer is in charge of the website’s overall look and feel. You’ll select the theme, write any custom CSS, and potentially design a new logo or other visual assets to enhance the nonprofit’s brand identity.
  • Content Manager: Content is king, and as a Content Manager, you’ll craft new content for the website while integrating existing materials into the new design. This role may also involve helping with mailing list setups and advising on content strategy.
  • Front-end Developer: The Front-end Developer focuses on building the website’s front-end according to the design specifications. This usually involves writing custom CSS, HTML, and sometimes JavaScript, depending on the nonprofit’s needs.
  • Social Media Manager: In this role, you’ll set up required social media accounts and assist the nonprofit in getting content flowing on these platforms. You’ll also train the organization on best practices for using social media and integrating it with their new website.

Not a web developer but still want to contribute to our cause? There are multiple ways you can get involved as a sponsor.

We’re looking for multiple sponsorships including but not limited to venue, food, and swags.

Website creation requires numerous paid services such as themes, plugins, domains, hosting, etc., which do_action aims to offer for free until the website goes live. Sponsoring these services will broaden our scope of work and help us create the best possible websites for the nonprofits as per their requirements. Any contribution will be appreciated.

If you’re interested in sponsoring, please email us at doaction@wpbhopal.org. You can contribute here.
